BYE-LAWS

ALL INDIA OPHTHALMOLOGICAL SOCIETY

ARTICLE XIX : AIOS AWARDS & ORATIONS

 

  • Any member of the Society who is eligible for the award shall be entitled to be considered for the same. If he is a member of any committee discussing the selection of award, he will withdraw from the discussion at that time.
  • All awards shall be once in four years, two years, or annually as provided in the bye-laws.
  • No award shall be given to the same person twice.
  • Recipient of the award shall be selected and recommended by the Scientific Committee which may seek the opinion of a referee if considered necessary by the Committee. All recipients of the Awards shall represent their work at the next Conference.
  • All awards will be named uniformly.
  • Awards will carry a citation and a medal.
  • 22 hard copies to be sent to the Chairman, Scientific Committee for General Awards (except Free Paper and Video/E-Poster award) on or before 31st July.
  • Normally any published work can be used as a “Reference” for award submission and the same publication alone should NOT be submitted for any AIOS Award. The submission should contain all the details elaborately.
  • General Council has decided that for any AIOS Award, the winner should get an aggregate score of 75% marks and only then the award should be considered. If the evaluator feels that the submission is good and wishes to consider it for the award, he/she should award 75%/+ marks. Apart from academic, equal amount for personality and personal contribution to AIOS should also be considered.ONE CAN APPLY FOR ONE AWARD ONLY
    All AIOS Awards will be given to ratified AIOS Members only and only for the work done in India when mentioned as such in the Award conditions.

 

AIOS LIFE TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

  • The Senior Members of the All India Ophthalmological Society shall be honoured by the Society for their Life Time Achievements in the field of Ophthalmology subject to the observance of the following guidelines:
    • The Member should not be less than 65 years of age on the last date for submission of the Award.
    • He should have actively participated in the Society for a minimum period of 20 years.
    • The Member should have contributed in the improvement of Standard of Ophthalmology in India.
    • He should be respectable Member of the Society.
  • There will be a maximum of two such awards in a year.
  • The State Societies may recommend 1 Member from their state for consideration of this honour. They will, however, not recommend for this honour the name of any Member who is not living.
  • The recommendations will be sent to the Hony. General Secretary, AIOS along with 11 copies of the Bio-Data and Photograph so as to reach not later than July 31
  • The conferment of this Award shall be considered and finalised by the OBSC subject to ratification by the Managing Committee/General Body.
  • The Life Time Achievement Award shall be in the nature of honour to a senior Ophthalmologist or his services in the field of Ophthalmology and so it will not attract the maximum limit of awards to a Member in his life time if any laid down by the Society.

 

Every 4 years

 

AIOS ADENWALA AWARD

1. It shall be open to all senior members of All India Ophthalmological Society, provided their age is more than 60 years & they have at least 15 years standing in the Society.heir age is more than 60 years & they have at least 15 years standing in the Society.
2. This award shall be for the work done in India.
3. This shall be awarded once in four years.
4. Award shall be made by nomination by the state societies to the Chairman, Scientific Committee of senior member(s) of the AIOS equal from the number of representatives to the managing committee of the AIOS in recognition of his contribution to Ophthalmology and the AIOS. (New Provision : Nominations for the award shall be made by the State Societies of Senior Member(s) of the AIOS from that state, equal to the number of representatives from that state to the Managing Committee, to the Chairman, Scientific Committee of the AIOS, in recognition of their contribution to Ophthalmology and the AIOS. [This will be subject to ratification by the MC/GB])
6. Recipient of the award will deliver an oration at the next conference.

 

AIOS E.V. SRINIVASAN AWARD

1. It shall be open to all the members of the All India Ophthalmological Society who are not in the teaching cadre. the members of the All India Ophthalmological Society who are not in the teaching cadre.
2. It shall be for the work done in India.
3. It shall be awarded once in four years.
4. Criteria for selection for this award shall be:
(a) Number of papers presented at scientific sessions of National and International Conference or
published in Medical Journals.
(b) Contributions made in the field of community ophthalmology.
(d) Applicant will have to apply to the Chairman, Scientific Committee for the award giving FULL details of the contributions and Conference participation.

 

AIOS S.C. DUTT AWARD

1. This award shall be open to any member of the All India Ophthalmological Society below the age of 40 years on December 31st of the year in which the application is made. Application MUST be accompanied by proof of age.e year in which the application is made. Application MUST be accompanied by proof of age.
2. This award shall be awarded once in four years.
3. This award shall be for the work done in India.
4. The award shall be given to the best submission to the Scientific Committee, of work done, in the 4-year period preceding the year of the award in any field of Ophthalmology.
5. Recipient of the Award will present his/her work as an oration at the next conference.

 

AIOS B.K. NARAYAN RAO AWARD

1. All members of All India Ophthalmological Society shall be eligible for this award.
2. The award shall be for the work done in India.
3. It shall be awarded once in four years.
4. The award shall be given to the Best submission to the Scientific Committee, of work done, in the 4-year period preceding the year of the Award, in any field of Ophthalmology
5. The receipient of the Award will present the work as an oration at the next Conference.

 

AIOS R.P. DHANDA AWARD

1. It shall be open to all members of All India Ophthalmological Society and will also consist of Cash Award.to all members of All India Ophthalmological Society and will also consist of Cash Award.
2. It shall be for the work done in India.
3. It shall be given once in four years.
4. The award shall be given to a member who has made a composite contribution, both qualitative and quantitative in nature by doing corneal grafts, organising eye donation
5. The member selected for the award, based on an application made giving all details of the work done, will present his work at the next conference.

 

AIOS K.R. DUTTA AWARD

1. It shall be open to all the members of All India Ophthalmological Society.
2. This award shall be for the work done in India.
3. This shall be given once in four years based on an application made to the Chairman, Scientific Committee with details of the work done. The application must contain the specific work in detail.
4. It shall be awarded for outstanding ophthalmic services to the rural Community over the last four years.

 

AIOS R.N. MATHUR AWARD

1. It shall be open to all Members of All India Ophthalmological Society.
2. It shall be for the Outstanding Ophthalmic services in the field of Medical Ophthalmology in India, over the last four years.
3. This shall be given once in four years based on an application made to the Chairman, Scientific Committee with details of the work done. The application must contain the specific work in detail.

 

AIOS P. AWASTHI AWARD

1. It shall be open to all the Members of the Society.
2. It shall be for an Ophthalmologist who, after attaining 65 years of age, has done distinctive work in the Community Ophthalmology so as to reduce the blindness of the country.
3. This Award shall be for the work done in India.
4. It shall be given once in four years based on an application made to the Chairman, Scientific Committee giving details of the work done, proof of age and the period during which the work was done.
5. The member selected for the award will present the work at the next Conference.

 

AIOS L.C. DUTTA AWARD

1. It shall be open to all the members of the Society.
2. It shall be given to the Best Paper of the original work done in India and published in the IJO in the 4-year period preceding the year of the Award.
3. It shall be given once in four years.
4. In case of multiple authors, the Award will be given to the Chief (Corresponding) Author who should meet the above criteria.
5. The Editor-Journal will constitute a panel who will decide the best 3 papers which will then be sent to a final committee which will include the Chairman, Scientific Committee; Chairman-ARC & Editor – Proceedings.

 

AIOS PRITI NATARAJAN AWARD

1. It shall be open to all the members of the AIOS doing Eye Clinic/Eye Hospital administration. Shall be open to all the members of the AIOS doing Eye Clinic/Eye Hospital administration.
2. Applicant should send their nomination with Bio-Data and evidence for doing good Eye Clinic/Eye Hospital Administration.
3. It shall be awarded once in four years.
4. The recipient of the award will present the work at the next conference.

 

Every 2 years

 

AIOS C.N. SHROFF AWARD

1. It shall be open to all members of All India Ophthalmological Society and will also consist of cash award.
2. It shall be for the work done in India.
3. It shall be given once in two years.
4. The award shall be given to a member who has made composite contribution both qualitative and quantitative in nature in the posterior segment of the eye.
5. The member selected for the award will present his work at the next conference.

 

AIOS RAKESH SHARMA MEMORIAL AWARD

1. It shall be open to all the members of the AIOS.
2. It shall be for the Best paper presented at the Annual Conference of the Society in the Trauma Free Paper session
3. It shall be awarded every alternate year
4. The recipient of the Award will present the paper at the next Conference.

 

AIOS J.S. MAHASHABDE AWARD

1. It shall be open to all Members of All India Ophthalmological Society.
2. It shall be for the BEST Paper read at the Community/Social Ophthalmology Session at the annual conference.
3. It shall be given once in two years.
4. The Member selected for the Award will present his work at the next conference.

 

AIOS HANUMANTHA REDDY AWARD

1. It shall be open to all the members of the AIOS.
2. It shall be given for the Best Paper presented at the annual conference of the Society in the Pediatric Ophthalmology Session.
3. It shall be given once in two years.
4. It shall be given for the work done in India.

 

AIOS DR. OM PARKASH AWARD

1. It shall be open for all the ratified members of AIOS.
2. It shall be awarded for the Best paper in the PEDIATRIC OPHTHALMOLOGY session
presented at the Annual Conference of AIOS.
3. It shall be awareded every alternate year.
4. The recipient of the award will present the work at the next Conference.

 

AIOS K.C. SINGHAL AWARD

1. It shall be open to all the Members of the Society.
2. It shall be for the BEST PAPER read at the EXTERNAL DISEASES session
at the Annual Conference.
3. It shall be given once in two years.
4. The member selected for the Award will present the paper at the next Conference.

 

AIOS APOS PRADEEP SWARUP AWARD

1. It shall be open for all the ratified members of AIOS.
2. It shall be awarded for the overall Best Paper in the External disease sessions presented at the Annual Conference of AIOS.
3. It shall be awarded every alternate year.
4. The recipient of the Award will present the work at the next Conference.

 

AIOS APOS K. VENGALA RAO AWARD

1. It shall be open for all the Ratified Members of AIOS.
2. It shall be awarded for the overall Best Paper in the Comprehensive Ophthalmology sessions presented at the Annual Conference of AIOS
3. It shall be awarded every alternate year.
4. The recipient of the Award will present the work at the next Conference.

 

AIOS APOS SANTOSH HONAVAR AWARD

1. It shall be open for all the ratified members of AIOS
2. It shall be awarded for the Best Paper in the Lacrimal session presented at the Annual Conference of AIOS.
3. It shall be awarded every alternate year.
4. The recipient of the Award will present the work at the next Conference.

 

Every Year

 

AIOS P. SIVA REDDY INTERNATIONAL AWARD

1. It shall be open to all the members of All India Ophthalmological Society.
2. It shall be awarded for the work done anywhere in the world.
3. It shall be awarded every year.
4. It shall be awarded based on an application for any significant work in Ophthalmology done by a member of the Society submitted to the Scientific Committee.
5. The application must contain the specific work in detail.
6. Recipient of the award will present the work at the next conference.

 

AIOS COL. RANGACHARI AWARD

1. All members of the Society shall be eligible for the award.
2. It shall be awarded every year.
3. The award shall be for the work done in India and only for unpublished article in any peer reviewed journal.
4. It shall be awarded for the Best Paper read at the Special Plenary Session of the annual conference.
(Note: The Col. Rangachari Award winner must submit the full text to IJO Editor for publication. Otherwise, that paper WILL NOT BE eligible for the Award).

 

AIOS D.B. CHANDRA – DISHA AWARD

1. It shall be open to all the Members of the Society.
2. It shall be for the Overall BEST Paper read at the Glaucoma Session/s at the annual conference.
3. It shall be awarded every year.
4. The Member selected for the Award will present his work at the next conference.

 

AIOS PREM PRAKASH – DISHA AWARD

1. It shall be open to all the members of the AIOS.
2. It shall be given for the best paper presented at the annual conference of the Society in the Squint Session.
3. It shall be awarded every year.
4. It shall be given for the work done in India.
5. In case of multiple authors, the Award will be given to the Chief Author who should be a Member of the Society.

 

AIOS REMA MOHAN AWARD

1. It shall be open to all the members of All India Ophthalmological Society.
2. It shall be awarded for the Best Paper read on Medical Retina at the Retina/Vitreous session.
3. Recipient of the award will present the work as an Oration at the next AIOS annual Conference.
4. It shall be awarded every year.

 

AIOS SHIV PRASAD HARDIA AWARD

1. It shall be open to all the Members of the Society.
2. It shall be for the Best Paper read at the Refractive Surgery Session at the annual conference.
3. It shall be awarded every year.
4. This Award shall be for the work done in India.
5. The Member selected for the Award will present his work in the next conference.

 

AIOS S.D. ATHAWALE AWARD

1. It shall be open to all the members of All India Ophthalmological Society.
2. It shall be awarded for the Best Paper read at the Neuro Ophthalmology Session at the Annual Conference.
3. It shall be awarded every year.
4. It shall be given for the work done in India.
5. Winner of the Award will present his work as an oration at the next conference.

 

AIOS SANTE VISION AWARD

1. It shall be awarded every year.
2. It shall be awarded for the Overall Best Paper read in the Cataract Sessions at the Annual Conference.
3. It shall be given for the work done in India.
4. It shall be open to all the members of All India Ophthalmological Society.

 

AIOS NARSING A. RAO AWARD

1. It shall be open to all the members of the AIOS.
2. It shall be awarded for the best paper presented at the annual conference of the Society in the Uvea session.
3. It shall be awarded every year.
4. The recipient of the award will present the work at the next conference.

 

AIOS S. NATARAJAN AWARD

1. It shall be open to all the members of the AIOS.
2. It shall be awarded for the Best Paper presented at the annual conference of the Society in the
Retina/ Vitreous Session.
3. It shall be awarded every year.
4. The recipient of the award will present the work at the next conference.

 

AIOS SUJATHA SAVITRI RAO AWARD

1. It shall be open for all the Ratified Members of AIOS.
2. It shall be awarded for the Best paper in the ORBIT/PLASTIC session
presented at the Annual Conference of AIOS.
3. It shall be awarded annually.
4. The recipient of the award will present the work at the next conference.

 

AIOS E.T. SELVAM AWARD

1. It shall be open to all the members of the AIOS.
2. It shall be given for the work done in India.
3. It shall be given every year for the Best Scientific Poster presented at the Annual Conference of the Society.
4. The recipient of the Award will be required to represent the Poster at the next annual Conference at Poster Panel No.1.

 

AIOS C.S. RESHMI AWARD

1. It shall be open to all the members of AIOS.
2. It shall be awarded annually.
3. Best video selected from those presented at the Film Festival will be eligible for this award.
4. The recipient of the award will be required to show the video film at the next annual conference.

 

AIOS K.R. DUTTA MEMENTO

1. It shall be presented to the President of the Society every year.

 

AIOS PRESIDENT’S AWARD

1. It shall be given for the Best Trade Stall at the Annual Conference.
2. It shall be given annually
